RRose RRome - The Hope (Prod. Araab Muzik)

Brooklyn rapper RRose RRome is one of the hardest emcee's from New York. With a style influenced by 90's and early 2000's Hip Hop, RRose RRome speaks about things that actually matters rather than getting money and trapping. This RRose RRome and Araab Muzik track is hard to say the least and I look forward to hearing more from this artist in the future.

Brvndon - Prescription Dreams

Brvndon is an extremely talented and versatile artist from Chicago which is currently a hotbed for dope artists. Brvndon has a lot of energy so much so it reminds me of Bobby Shmurda because you become hooked when listening to his music. However Brvndon is not just a hype artist he has an amazing voice as well and yes I mean he can carry a note, and do it well. Overall this tape is really dope and cant wait to hear more from him.

Artist Spotlight - SONCIER

Cincinnati native SONCIER is all about positivity and overcoming challenges you've faced in your life. Coming back from nearly being paralyzed after being stabbed in the back he has made a full recovery and is able to walk. That being said he has so much talent and really works for what he wants, this mans grind is unreal.

We chose SONCIER for our 1st Artist Spotlight because of his work ethic, talent, and what he has done for DC hip hop. As you will find out SONCIER does a lot for the hip hop in the DC area where he currently resides. In a industry filled with carbon copies its great to see such a talented individual doing his own things and conforming to industry stereotypes.

SONCIER's Latest Mixtape:

We Asked SONCIER to answer a few questions for us so you can learn more about this extremely talented artist. Here is an inside look into the mind of this young and talented emcee enjoy!

NUMB: What got you interested in Music ?

SONCIER:
my brother put me on to a lot of east coast New York hip hop during my teenage years . He introduced me to Nas, Jay-z , Capone & Norega , Mobb Deep. I eventually started honing my own craft at age 14 and then developed my first song "we in the gutta ." Didn't get serious until age 19.

NUMB: Top 3 favorite artists and why?

SONCIER:
My top favorite artists are 1. Tupac -because he introduced sensitivity to the music game from a human being standpoint. He wasn't afraid to be vulnerable.

2. Lupe fiasco - he speaks on socialism from an intellectual standpoint.

3. Nas- he created street poetry. Before him there were no artist writing about life and mentality of a street kid in a descriptive manner. He made it a pure art and we all artist need to pay him homage.

These 3 artist inspired and birthed my style. I'm a positive rapper that delivers negative content and raw emotion . I strive to give you substance on socialism with a negative approach.  I'm that urban guy that tried to avoid the street life but ended up being influenced it.

Definitely can see Nas's influence in his single Graffiti:

NUMB: What experience in your career was a game changer for you and why?

SONCIER:
Getting my song played on shade 45 by MTV's Sway Calloway. He played my songs "All That & Shadow and after it got 10 votes it stayed in rotation for a month. It inspired me to keep going and let me know people like music.

NUMB: What else do you do besides Rap?

SONCIER:
I run a company called F.Y.D entertainment LLC. I am an activist for a non-profit group called Willrap4food, I am a mass communications major, and a songwriter. When I'm not doing music I'm exercising and focusing on living an organic life. I eat organic food and blend regularly.

NUMB: Most memorable experience?
SONCIER:
When I got stabbed in my back. Made me stronger and more fearless. I was almost paralyzed but by the grace of the creator I was able to walk again.

Feds - Hope

Feds, an up and coming rapper from Monroe, CT recently lost his cousin. This song is filled with pure emotion and exhibits the pure lyrical talent he posses in this deep single Hope. Feds is only 15 but he raps like hes been doing this his whole life, and includes witty rhymes and references similar in style to rappers like Danimal Lector, and Chris Webby.

Overall Feds track Hope is filled with complete emotion and this is by far some of his best work to date. For someone who is 15 I cant even fathom what he will be able to do later in his career. Feds definitely has a bright future and its great to see such a young artist doing so well.

Logic - Under Pressure

Logic is arguably the best rapper to ever come out of Maryland, and by far one of the most lyrically advanced artists in the game. Logic is one hell of an individual I have so much respect for him because of all of hes gone through and the struggle he faced to succeed. I gotta say his album really dope and gives you and inside look into his life and his thoughts. Each song opens up with a different fact about the album although this is extremely repetitive its also really cool to see all of his influences. Overall The album is dope and i recommend you buy it it’s definitely worth the cash

Mystery Cipher Exclusive Interview

Mystery Cipher, an up and coming rapper from Boston has worked with rappers such as Cassidy, Future, Freck Billionaire, and many other established artists. Being that he is only a freshman in college he is fairly successful for his age. Ive known Mystery Cipher for about a year now and we've been talking about doing an interview for some time now and finally got around to it. So here is an inside look at one of Boston's most talented emcee's.

1. What got you interested in Music ?

Honestly, I’ve just been intrigued by music since a young child. Growing up I was always listening to music regardless of the genre. Around age 6-7 I can remember listening to Hip Hop music and trying to write rhymes in a notebook. It’s just a passion I’ve had for as long as I can remember.

2. What advice would you give to people who are new or not as established as you are in the industry?

Grind. I’m a LONG way from where I wish to be, but I’m always motivated to keep working because I know I can reach my goals. I’ve come into contact with a lot of people who respect my grind and hustle because they see the work I put in day in and day out. There is never a moment when I am not thinking about how I can improve my work. To those who are also coming up with me I advise you to outwork those who may often be more talented than you. You gotta grind 25/8 just to stay ahead of those working 24/7.

3. Top 3 favorite artists and why?

(All Time) (No Order)
  1. Cassidy - Cassidy is one of the most influential artists in my career. He is the reason why I came into this game. I would remember listening to Cassidy and being able to rewind verses to hear new things you would not notice the first time you may have listened to his verse. In my opinion he’s one of the best punchline artists to ever pick up a microphone hands down.

  1. Big L - Although I may not have been listening to him when he was actually revolutionizing the game live I have learned a lot from studying and listening to everything Big L put out. Big L is the person who I consider to be the father of today’s punchline style. It still puzzles me how people argue Big & Tupac, but can leave Big L out of this conversation. Obviously he never got far enough in his career to receive enough attention as Big or Pac, but he revolutionized wordplay and punchlines and could go bar for bar with either of those two.

  1. Fabolous - Can you tell I like punchlines yet? Fab has just always been a consistent artist who can go on anything and do what he does best, kill it. Fab is one of my favorite artists just because he is a perfect example of an artist who started back when the Hip Hop Industry was about the bars, and was able to cleanly adapt with today’s music while still spitting crazy punches and staying relevant.

4. What experience in your career was a game changer for you and why?

Being able to work with Cassidy & Freck Billionaire. As I stated above Cassidy has been a long time influence to me, and when he reached out to me on twitter saying he wanted to see what I could do on that 3rd verse on “Dumb Out” I was just in shock. Freck Billionaire because he is considered Fab’s artist, and has some of the craziest lines I have ever heard. That man is the Shakespeare of bars. Also, my recent performance with Ab-Soul. That was just an amazing experience I had, These experiences just showed me that I’ve came a LONG way from recording on a webcam microphone. It’s just been more motivation to keep working showing me what is possible!

5. Favorite project that you have ever worked on?

My favorite project has to be my latest project “Da Capo: Only The Beginning” with Studbeats and Big Tunez The DJ. Stud & I just had a lot of fun making this project. I took a step back from everything when I was working on this I changed every routine I originally had. I honestly did not write any song on this project I just went into the booth and recorded how I felt at that particular moment. Every song on that project was something I had fun with, which many artist cannot say when they are working on a project. Most artist become stressed when working on a project so I decided to tell myself I wouldn’t stress it, but just have fun with it. Looking back on it I think it was a great project, and I received a lot of great reviews on it! I had a great time working on that!
6. Is this just a temporary job or do you see yourself doing this long-term?

I see myself doing this for awhile. I’ve been working too hard and put too much money into this career to just quit on it one day.

7. What else do you do besides Rap?

Nothing. No, but really I’m actually a full time college student. Obviously that takes a lot of time out of my music schedule, but the minute I get out of classes it’s all music business. I’ve actually made a lot of connects throughout my university with artists, producers, and people who know other people in the music industry so it has helped me in some ways.

8. Where do you see yourself in the industry in 5 years?

Hopefully sipping ciroc with Diddy. Hahaha I just hope in 5 years I’m doing what I love to do and getting paid for it. I see myself touring the world with Stud & Big Tunez as we create the next major movement in the music industry.

9. What college/university do you attend, and what was your motivation for choosing that school?

I attend Suffolk University in Boston, MA. I chose this school because I wanted to stay in the Boston area and this seemed like the right fit. It wasn’t too big or too small just a perfect amount of students. I’m glad I chose this school so far because as I previously said I’ve made a lot of connections, and hopefully will continue to make more!

How did you and Stud Beats meet?

Maaaan Stud & I been friends WAY before the music. We grew up together, we went to the same school from 5-8th grade, and now we also go to college together. Knowing each other for so long when we transferred it to music we just had a crazy producer/artist chemistry. I think a lot of other producers who submit beats to me are beginning to get mad at Stud, and I think other upcoming artists who are dying to work with Stud are beginning to get mad at me ahahah. We just have a vibe that works crazy together.

11. Coolest Famous Rapper/Artist that you have have had a conversation with? and why?

French Montana. I met French at the airport last summer and he seemed like such a chill dude. He was with all his Coke Boy members and we had a conversation he was just a real down to earth artist. He let me spit for his A&R and they took down my contact info so it was just a real memorable time out of nowhere. He def gets my respect.

12. What is the hardest thing for you as an Artist? and why?

The hardest thing has been marketing my music. I have a good sized supporting base, but I want to continue to expand but it’s a lot more work than it seems. I’m not one who wants to spam everyone on twitter/facebook so I take other approaches. I’ve been getting into marketing techniques a lot more and will continue to do so until my supporter base is where I want it to be (I’ll probably never be fine though it can always be growing LOL).

13. Favorite Food?

Cheese Pizza Well Done. My boys get sick at how every time they wanna order something or go out to eat before a session I want pizza. I can easily eat pizza everyday for a few weeks straight. Lock me in the studio with pizza, bombay, and a bunch of beats from Stud and it’s over. Hahaha

14. Craziest thing to happen to you while Performing?

Daaaaamn see I didn’t want to answer this hahaa. During the “I Love College Tour” Big Tunez was DJing this event that brought 1,600+ college students from around New England together for one huge show. While on stage Stud & I were throwing out chains and hats provided to us by  one of my sponsors HipHopBling.com (Check them out DOPE!) and some girl was going crazy in the corner of the stage for a chain. I threw her a chain she moved out of the way and it cracked the girl behind her...I just walked away like nothing happened...The girl was fine but pissed and ended up throwing the chain back up onto stage and someone else on stage threw it back out.

15. Most memorable experience

My most recent performance with TDE artist Ab-Soul. It was my first real sold out performance, and I thought it was okay, but could absolutely be improved. It was more of a memorable learning experience.

16. What Rapper do you aspire to be like?

I don’t want to be like anyone else. I want to inspire and motivate the next group of upcoming artists. I want to show people with a dream that as unlikely as it may seem it’s possible.

Saba feat. Eryn Allen Kane - Burnout

Saba is by far one of the most talented artists to come out of Chicago that being said he is extremely underrated. With a small but extremely committed fancies Saba has been able to really make a name for himself in the industry. I’ve personally never seen an artist with more committed fans and have the upmost respect for him and his grind.

As for his song Burnout, Its dope theres no disputing that and the visuals are really sick. I love the way that they combine cartoons with trippy real life visuals. I gotta hand it to Saba you really killed this one, cant wait to hear more.

Felly - Schoolzones

Chris Felner, who is more commonly known by the name Felly, has created the beginning of a very promising musical career. With his up coming project Milk and Sugar looming just over the horizon this release only creates more anticipation for this project.

I have been listening to Felly since his beat Helementary dropped which was quite some time ago. The amount that he has developed is amazing and is really making moves in the underground hip hop scene.

I cannot wait until Milk and Sugar drops this Halloween I’m definitely not trick or treating this year instead I’m locking my self in the studio and going to vibe out to this project all night. Felly really creates some great vibes and his music seriously is a blessing.

Chris Webby - Dopamine (feat. Talib Kweli, Grafh, B-Real & Trae Tha Truth)

As the anticipation of Chris Webby’s debut album release is approaching we have been getting a look into his up coming album. So far Chris has released Fuck Off, Lets Do It Again, R.A.D, and now Dopamine. This track featuring some of the most lyrically precise artists in the game is by far some of Webby’s best work yet. Grafh, B-Real, and Trae Tha Truth are among some of my favorite rappers of all time. I had never heard any of Talib Kweli’s work prior to this song and now I’m seriously hooked, nice choice Chris!

The overall flow of this song is really great with a classic west coast style beat and beautifully composed lyrics Dopamine is purely genius. Overall it’s a seriously tight track thats super catchy, and I hope that Webby blows up a ton after this because of all people in the game I think he is one of the few artists that really deserves it.

Drob - Do It Again Ft Knownrecords Tef

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is home to a large amount of musical talent, however it is known for producing artists like Tayyib Ali, Cassidy, and Chiddy Bang. Rob Curly - Smoke To This

Miami Rapper, Rob Curly released a short song called Smoke To This. It’s the same beat that Felly used for his single Low Low and is also produced by Fel. With only one verse Rob was able to execute this song perfectly. Although it’s only a minute and a half it’s a pretty dope song, and it is definitely building hype up for his up coming mixtape which I can’t what to hear.

Theres always new talent coming out of La, and this post is about a young man who had a ton of talent and proves why Los Angeles has one of the hottest Hip Hop scenes in the world. Pyramid Period is one extremely talented individual that you haven’t but should have heard of. I really love this song Trippin as it is so real and gives an accurate description of what motivates people and their decisions. The song is extremely fluid and well put together. Cal Scruby "The Kill" feat. Jukebox

The next big name in rap to come out of Cincinnati, Cal Scruby just dropped his new single The Kill with a bass heavy sample of La Roux’s In For The Kill. Cal really goes hard on this beat and makes for an excellent product. Since Cal’s recent singing with Riveting Entertainment he has dropped nothing but fire and has really showcased his true talent and is really making a name for himself. Overall this song is sick and cant wait to hear more from Cal.

Stann Smith - Hakeem (Music Video) | #EKOET Stann Smith - Hakeem (Music Video) | #EKOET

New York's very own Stann Smith dropped his new single Hakeem the other day. Stann is quite the unique artist. With a style that combines classic 90's Hip Hop with a Joey Badass type flow hes one artist that's really easy to rock with. I've chilled with him and I gotta say hes a real down to earth human being and I really like his Straight Edge (EKOET) movement. Showing that you don't need to do drugs to be a dope emcee.

As for his single Hakeem its seriously some of his best work to date and just flows perfectly. The music video is simple but extremely effective and doesn't try to distract the listener from the true content of the music. Overall its pretty dope, nice work Stann!

Chris Webby - Fuck Off (Official Music Video)

Connecticut's finest has done it yet again. Chris Webby, by far one of the most lyrically talented artists in the game released visuals for his single Fuck Off. This single is by far one my favorite that Webby has released to date. Which is quite impressive considering the fact that I have been following his music since 2007. The visuals were supplied by Hunter Lyon another Connecticut talent who is one of the best videographer's in the state. The clear and seamless production of this video shows the true talent Hunter posses. With Chemically Imbalanced set to release the 28th of October he is definitely creating some serious hype for his debut album. As usual everything Webby releases is on point and this is video is no exception. I'm really stoked for this album to drop!
